Tonight, I am without my trusty work companion, my computer, so I did something I have not done in a while. I sat down to meditate. Thankfully I was able to quickly enter a state of stillness and after only 10 minutes of meditation I had a wonderful ah-ha moment; I understood clearly the simple practice that brings overflowing happiness and Abundance in my life. In that moment of stillness, it was exciting to see how one simple practice impacts my life. This simple practice takes so little time and makes the transition from sleep to waking and waking to sleep much more pleasant. When I’ve done it I notice this almost magical quality to my progress. . . And when I don’t things feel cursed by comparison. . .
Please allow me to explain. After I left the financial brokerage industry and move to Scottsdale, Arizona, to start over somewhere warmer and more beautiful, I chose to work as a waitress while I considered what type of long term career I was really willing to invest my time and energy into. I enjoyed many things about the serving which made it a good place for me to be while I considered my next career.
However, some things changed and I ended up placing my resume online and was contacted by a local company to work in marketing. The pay was decent and it came with a company car and several other unexpected benefits. It seemed like a great new step for me, but I wasn’t there long before I started feeling uneasy with my new job. The work was fine but I soon began to see very unethical business practices from the owners and managers. This behavior unsettled to me. Fortunately, I was recruited into another small company and again I encountered a lack of integrity there too, only it was worse than the job I had just left!
What was happening in my life? I couldn’t see it then, but so many of my decisions were being driven from a place of fear and therefore lacked the vision needed to align with real Abundance. In other words, I had my head down, metaphorically speaking. That was why I couldn’t see what was really happening around me. This meant that no matter how diligently I worked, I made little to no progress towards my real passions.
So what changed this pattern for me?
I learned to make time, consistently throughout the week to feed my passions in stillness. I experimented with a bunch of different things and found that the following practice is what works best for me.
In the morning before I rise from bed, I journal my gratitudes for the wonderful blessings in my life. I find it is best if I focus on the three most important areas of my life; my health, harmony in my heart with others, and the prosperity that surrounds me. Then all I need to do is make sure those gratitudes have time to circulate throughout my body by scheduling time to physically move or exercise. Then, at the end of the day when I am in bed again right before I turn out the light, I journal about my daily progress towards my health, harmony and prosperity goals and then spend 10 to 20 minutes meditating afterwards. This simple practice never fails me, when I do it consistently.
This simple combination of steps has really fed my zest for life, and it allows me to approach situations from love and gratitude instead of from fear. This simple practice creates a deeper connection to me, giving me intuition where I used to experience ignorance and I am confident in my clarity and vision. As I have continued this practice, I am certain that miracles happen around me, for me, and from me. My self-trust and my self-worth have increased leaving me able to take bigger risks and still make great choices. Ultimately, creating greater happiness and Abundance in my life.
Because I can now see in hindsight that this one simple routine has created powerful focus, alignment, and creativity in myself and in my life; I am going to take on a 30-day challenge for myself and I would love it if you would join me!
At least every other day for the next 30 days, I’m going to journal gratitudes in the morning before getting in some movement and then journal progress in the evening before meditating for at least 20 minutes.
I promise to report back to you and I would love to hear from you as well! What is the routine that creates love and connection in your life? Do you journal, meditate or workout? We can share our experiences here below on this blog in the comments section or find me on social media @coachsarahkay.
