In this new year, I want to teach you how to live Spirit First. I will teach you what is Spirit First living and why you should care about living Spirit First. After you understand the what and why I will go into next steps by showing you the secrets to success and common pitfalls to avoid.
As Simon Sinek would say, Start with Why.
Why Live Spirit First
This is seen in the areas of health, relationships, and prosperity
Because of our individual and collective health, harmony and prosperity depend on it.
It affects new and better outcomes in economics, politics, medicine, etc.
The peace, happiness, and beauty we all desire are accessed through living spirit first.
By growing great courage – ones who support and nurture those who are in a weaker or more vulnerable position than themselves. Out of petty courage – ones who are proud at pointing out other people’s shortcomings.
How Do We Live Spirit First
First, by gradually increasing our practice of humility, apology, and forgiveness. By apologizing for all of the things that have caused damage to our lives, others or our environment through our anger, laziness or ignorance we begin to purify our spiritual cells. In essence, we are apologizing and forgiving our ego selves for not properly caring for our spiritual selves. This spiritual cell purification clarifies our mind and then allows the body to detox.
When people are sick they often get better through this practice and when people who appear well but are holding onto toxins begin this practice they often begin to show signs of detoxing which range widely in intensity.
Second, we live spirit first by gradually increasing our practice of gratitude, by feeling thankful from our innermost attitude, by sharing words of gratitude and by performing an action which expresses our gratitude to spirit/Universal energy/source.
What Is Spirit First Living?
Spirit first living is the principle and practice of giving precedence to spiritual desires before giving precedence to the desires of the mind or body. In other words, Spirit first living means giving our first and best energy of every minute, hour and day to focus on the principles of spirit before the principles of mind or body.
This often feels like a crazy way to live with the insanely fast paced demands of today’s world. Yet, as we begin to live spirit first, and our spiritual cells are purified with apology and forgiveness and then nourished with active gratitude and love, our minds and bodies become more clear, agile and strong. This means the things which we desire become easier for us to create or align to.
It is said that if you place a frog over a boiling pot of water, it will do what any human would do, try to escape from the obvious and impending danger. However, if you place a frog in a cool pot of water, it will sit there even when the heat gradually increases.
The heat of disease, anger, and poverty (financial worry) have been gradually increasing everywhere in the world and we have been sitting and waiting to be stewed. Unless we leap into proper action, we will all be cooked.
This may seem like a dramatic perspective, but history has shown us smaller versions of this happening around the globe. A proper perspective of living a spirit first life in the most practical of manners will begin to reverse the damages caused and help us to become the light of the flame instead of the frog in the stew.
Secrets of Success
The Principle of Dawning – If nighttime changed to day in an instant not only would it be painful, it would make many people crazy. If you have ever been sleeping and then awakened in a dark room only to have someone open up the window to the full bright sunlight, you know the searing pain it can cause. The principle of dawning says change (progress) is naturally gradual. People often use the saying “baby steps” to signify this.
In a world, society, family, and life where we have been living body, mind spirit, it is good to take “baby steps” towards a gradual change in our actions, words, and thought towards a spirit first, mind next, then the body will follow.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid
Competition or Comparison – When we compare or compete with those outside of ourselves we lose sight to truth, contaminating our innermost attitude, slowing our progress forward and distancing ourselves from true and lasting happiness and abundance.
Anger and Judgement – Any time you give energy to judgment you risk anger and both waste energy that is otherwise better spent on proper learning, actions and efforts towards gradual and continuous progress.
Make no mistake, reading these word from the sidelines may be easy, but making the choice to engage them in action takes great courage, builds enduring strength and character and results in lasting happiness and Abundance which will flow from you to others. For some of us, this truth more than justifies the efforts required. It compels us to action.
